Dr. S.R. Venkatesh, MD

Dr. S. R. Venkatesh was born and raised in Bangalore, India. On completion of his medical degree (he was 8th ranked in his class of 1974) from Bangalore University, India he proceeded to the United States in 1976 for his Residency in Internal Medicine at the Sinai Hospital in Detroit and then his Fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine at USC Medical Center of Los Angeles County.

In private practice since 1982, and as a leading Pulmonologist in Houston, Dr. Venkatesh has held many leadership positions being Chairman, Critical Care Committee of Cypress Fairbanks Hospital, Medical Director for Kindred Hospital and Chairman, Critical Care Committee for the North Cypress Medical Center in Houston. Dr. Venkatesh’s professional involvement also include his participation and membership in professional societies as a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, the American Thoracic Society, the Texas Medical Association and the Harris County Medical Society.

Dr. Venkatesh served on the Board of the Indo American Charity Foundation from 2001 to 2004 in addition to serving the community. He is an avid sportsman having played cricket in his college days. Presently, he and his wife Vidya are passionate golfers with recorded handicaps of 5 and 14 respectively. Recently, Dr. Venkatesh scored his first recorded hole in one! Dr. Venkatesh and Vidya reside in the Piney Point area of Houston and have three accomplished daughters.
